Summary
Witch Child by Celia Rees is told from the diary entries of a young girl named Mary Newbury. Mary's grandmother was just hanged in their small English town for being a witch. Mary is now left alone without anyone to care for her. Shortly after the hanging, Mary is kidnapped by a group of mysterious women. These women tell Mary that she is a witch and must flee to safety in the colonies. From there, Mary hops on a ship full of Puritans headed for Salem, Massachusetts and must do her best to try to conceal her true identity as a witch.
